Rebecca Honeycutt, licensed midwife
Hi, I’m Rebecca Honeycutt, an Arizona native now living near Ruston, Louisiana. I have been helping families navigate their birth experiences since 2003 as a doula and through childbirth education classes, and am a licensed in the State of Louisiana as a home birth midwife.
Though the years, I have helped hundreds of women during their childbearing year with birth and/or postpartum doula services, individualized childbirth education and consulting, and breastfeeding education and assistance. My passion is to benefit our community through serving the individual family. People who are cared for, and whose needs are supported in the ways they determine, transition into parenthood more easily, and in turn have an easier time caring for their babies. Babies who have all their needs met have an emotionally healthy start from which to grow even stronger. As a midwife, I care for a birthing person during their journey to parenthood. I listen to them and help them set up support that suits their needs to the fullest.
It all started back in 1986 when I received care from my own midwife. I had good care from my doctor with my first pregnancy, but the care from my midwife with my second pregnancy was exemplary. I knew then that I wanted to share this difference with other people during their childbearing year with the addition that included all the physical health checks of the doctor appointments, but including education and choice on matters concerning the new parent and their baby.
Thanks for stopping by my site. If you have any questions about home birth midwifery in Louisiana, please feel free to call or text. My cell phone number is (318) 599-0579.

Lisa Hopkins, primary assistant
Lisa’s role with Midwife Louisiana, LLC is Primary Assistant. She provides hands on care as needed and to your level of comfort. This could be taking vital signs, fetal heart tones or assessing postpartum bleeding. As a seasoned doula, she is ready to offer gentle coaching during transition and pushing phases of labor and is experienced with offering bodyfeeding assistance. Most importantly, she is trained in birth emergency procedures and has specific roles when they arise so we can work together efficiently. She is a nurturing presence who brings a sense of calm to the birthing space.
I attended a birth worker meet up in 2025. While there, I asked who organized the event. Much to my surprise, it was the quiet, watchful person who never drew any attention to herself that came forward. I was looking at a very capable leader. One who leads for the betterment of the group, not for self promotion.
As life would have it, Lisa was recommended to me to fill vacancy for a birth assistant. That soon developed into a midwifery apprentice position. She is learning the craft of midwifery the way I did, through the mentorship of elders, the traditional way. Lisa and I would like to thank you in advance for giving her the privilege of participating in your care. Doing so grants her the necessary opportunities for gaining the skills she will need in the next generation of midwifery care.

Secondary Assistants
A secondary assistant comes near the end of your labor. Her primary role is that of a scribe, to document the times of important milestones during delivery and immediate postpartum, freeing Lisa and me to focus on caring for and supporting you and your baby. In the event of an emergency, she is the one who communicates with 991 dispatch and directs the EMTs to the location of the emergency. This allows Lisa and me the ability to provide uninterrupted care and gives the birth partner the ability to remain with their loved one while help arrives. Her presence at the birth setting is hardly noticed, yet she is a much appreciated force behind the scenes. We have two secondary assistant/scribes. They rotate their on call schedules.
