birthing options or wishful thinking?

Your birthing options are directly related to your choice of provider and birth location. Midwife Louisiana, LLC is working on a video to show your birthing options in northern Louisiana.

Midwifery Care

We are committed to providing quality maternity care in the comfort and safety of your home. Our philosophy includes the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life events with a record of better outcomes when there are minimal interventions.

Welcome Home

Our clients are looking for something more in their maternity care than what standard obstetrics has to offer. They want to be active participants in the care for themselves and their babies, not silent bystanders in a system that makes all decisions for them.

Know what your body is doing, why it’s doing it and what you can do about it. This three day series is held monthly and  at Blue Sky Yoga studios in Ruston and Monroe.

There are two types of people who seek my doula services. One is a first time parent seeking information on childbirth and how to navigate the medicalized system. The second is someone who has already had a hospital birth and they are dissatisfied.

I can come to your home, even if you had a hospital birth, and provide assistance with positions to hold your baby and getting them to latch properly.

FAQs

For clarity, the term “home birth” is used as any planned home birth attended by a qualified practitioner.

Q: What is the difference in maternity care between a doctor and a midwife?
A: Short answer, philosophy of care.

“I am so glad I was able to benefit from her class! Her class gives not only advice, but the facts of how birth works mechanically, what to do if you go into labor spontaneously and how to advocate for yourself if you end up giving birth in a hospital. She covers information on c-sections and provided resources for postpartum care. Rebecca is truly a great teacher and is passionate about babies and mothers.”

“I can’t brag on this angel enough. After a traumatic birth last year, she made me feel safe and comfortable. Appointments were like visiting with family. She has been a big part of our experience and I know she’s available at any time for questions. If you are even thinking of a home birth, she’s the one to go to. You won’t regret it.”

“Rebecca and her team are the best!! I had my first home birth in 2020 with Rebecca and it was phenomenal. Needless to say, we called her again for my 2nd home birth in Nov. 2022. She is so sweet and supportive, intelligent, attentive, calm. She is all the right things at all the right times. I just can’t say enough.”
